I've been trying to keep my eyes open for some unique ways that businesses are marketing their products and services. A entrepreneur friend of mine had "skinned" his laptop and cell phone with an adhesive vinyl cover that donned his company logo. He told me that everywhere he goes his laptop and cell phone images strike up conversations about his company. Apparently there are many websites that sell these "skins" for your devices, but he told me that he ordered his from a company called Unique Skins that actually specializes in corporate accounts. (Unique Skins - Custom Vinyl Skins For Mobile Phones, iPod, MP3 Players, Gaming Consoles and More!). I find this tactic to be rather similar to skinning your company car or van; a form of advertising all on its own.

I'd love to hear if others have tried this and whether it was successful, and what other out of the box ideas you've seen for marketing.

Paid blogger posts
Companies like PayPerPost and ReviewMe have established marketplaces for paid blog posts. If you’re an advertiser, you request a paid post from a blogger, based on the price that depends on the popularity of the blog. If you’re a blogger, you can take on this offer, and write a post about whatever the company in question wanted.

Pre-roll video ads
You click on a video link, and instead of what you requested, you first have to endure an X second clip before the actual video starts. It’s a common practice, but as the online video market heats up, with companies like Joost signing contracts with big media companies left and right, we can expect to see more and more of those in online videos.
