unusual advertising strategies!

I was told these by a guy who claim to have had a huge success with these 3 strategies.

1. Go on ebay and see anyone auctioning a tattoo, have your url tattooed on to their forehead.

2. Go to the beach and with sun screen, write your url on an attractive womans back (with her permission) you have to be selling a product that appeals to men!

3. Get some skimpy bikinis printer with your url on the rear and give them out to college girls at the beach.

Apparantly, these do work but the only draw back I see is the url has to be small, but no problem you could always redirect it to your long url site!

For any ladies reading, sorry.

Buy me a Beer?
I think these ideas would only work if your product was something that appealed to teenagers.

Buy me a Beer?
Many people forget about the simple offline advertising that cost no money...

* Have your url printed on your checks (free if you already pay for checks)
* Sending out Bills, write your url on the envelopes (free)
* Put a Bumper Sticker with your url on your car (cost very cheap)
* Faxing Anything ? Then have your Cover Sheet with your url (free)
* Answering Machine, add your url in the message (free)
* Post your business card on Community Borads (free)
* Have a sales event that helps charities ? Then print flyers and ask store owners if you can post it in their front windows (cost very cheap)

These are just to name a few.. There are many many ways to advertise offline for free, think about the things you do everyday... Like write a check, send out snail mail and etc...

Buy me a Beer?
These surely are some good points.
They will no doubt send you some traffic, but don't count only on those. You can do them as additional promotional methods, not your main marketing strategies.

Thanks for sharing.

Yip, it is very useful to do offline marketing as well.

I put A4 flyers (with tear off strips) on notice boards in various stores
You can also give small flyers out at the robots or parking lots.

Those all sound like great ideas. The original post ideas are creative. I also get decals made to put on the back glass of my car. Stopped at a stop light, people will no doubt read it.

This should seriously be taken as a support campaign. Though it is very effective, you should also be involved in some other techniques.

Writing articles still is the most effective marketing strategy.

Interesting ideas, but you have to think of your target market, as mentioned above, these are great ideas if you're appealing to teenagers. You have to find out where your target crowd hangs out or is likely to be, then figure out a way to get your URL in front of them

Buy me a Beer?
Sounds more like a 'joke' than a real story.
But whatever white hat tactic works is fine by me.

Anyone try 'link baiting' and have it work for them?

Haha. Do actual people use these ad strategies? I find them hilarious. There are more effective ways to promote your site. Don't waste your time with things that won't bring that much results.
