You obviously are already using forums as one free way to get exposure.
There are also blog posts and comments in related areas. It's best to explore the sites you know and like and check out their ad rates. I think they are usually less expensive and more effective, specially if you are active on the site. |

This question is asked all the time on this forum and all over on the Internet! In fact traffic is what makes any internet business worth its name, and the best traffic is search engine traffic. You can get that though search engine optimization.
One word: Backlinks! Don't bother submitting to search engines! It is a complete wast of time! I have well over 3000 indexed web pages, but i have never submitted a single website to any search engine! dont even know how it is done! Backlinks is the key!

The most effective methods I have found to get targeted traffic to your website also happen to be FREE:
1. Write and market articles about your product. 2. Twitter every day. But first learn how to do it right. 3. Start a blog and use it to promote your product via articles and ads. 4. Learn the most effective strategy for posting in forums Works great for me. And all it costs is... time.

I do not usually make a point of disagreeing with moderators in an open forum, but I cannot agree with you here on search engine submissions. At least not completely. I would certainly agree that back-links are important and if I were promoting a new educational site as is suggested by Idriss, I would certainly use article submissions to bring in quality back-links, but I would not stop there. I would do a "Google" search for "educational site directories" and submit to any with a high PR,and do not forget that public libraries tend to have very strong PR ratings and if your site is indeed educational with "content" -Content being the operative word here- and not just a commercial site, they will allow you to submit your site to their search engines for free, and you can hardly get better free educational traffic than from a library. One that comes to mind that has a very high PR rating of PR8, is located here: Librarians' Internet Index But enough attention cannot be placed on keyword intense article submissions and I would strongly suggest using an article submission software to simplify the process. You do not need to run out and purchase this software, there are very good programs freely available online. I do not want to give specific names here as I do not want anyone to think I am promoting someone. I will say that you can learn a lot about these tools by doing keyword searches in whatever search engine you are comfortable with. Good luck to you with your new site, and I trust that waxman will not be offended by my disagreement to this post. Respectfully, Daniel Ambrose |

Hi clicknow4cash
I am happy that you are providing an interactive debate on this forum. At least we need one like this so as to make the forum more lively. I think you should also try to understand a post before disagreeing with it. Search engine submission is quite different from directories submission. When I said search engines, I meant general search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and the thousand more our there! I was not talking about personal directories search engines. Of cause you may submit your site to directories because without you submitting your site to them, they often may not automatically crawl the web to add your site to their index. But search engines in the likes of Google, yahoo and MSN do crawl and add sites by themselves, so you don't need to manually submit to them! Just so you know, there are internet marketing gurus out there making thousands of $ just by offering search engine submission services! Why should I pay them to submit my site to Google for example, when i know Google will come crawl and add my site anyways? I may pay someone to submit my site to directories, not to search engines!

One very effective way to generate traffic and allows you to bring your landing page to the reader is to purchase an $80 press release from PRWeb and promote yourself....
