guzie - I agree 100% that articles are a great resource. Let's broaden that a bit -- CONTENT in general is what drives free response and conversions. The web is all about content - information sharing. The higher the quality of your content, the better you will do over time.
I see many, many, many (can't stress many enough!) lackluster articles online, which are often passed over because, quite frankly, they suck. What's worse, they damage credibility. Many people hire sub-par writers believing that quantity is more important than quality. For example, professional content development firms might charge $40 to $100 and up for a single page of content - and it will be darn good. Amateurs will charge as little as 1 cent per word, and the quality, in most cases, will be terrible. What would you rather have: One great article that many people enjoy or 100 articles that most people identify as amateurish? That being said, quantity is important for spreading your message and SEO purposes - but it's important to remember that you should make sure each article is great before moving on to the next. This doesn't mean you have to hire a professional writer - if you can articulate well and are knowledgeable in your subject, you can write your articles yourself. As long as you give VALUE to your readers, you'll do well. For internet marketers, I suggest a regimen of one to two articles each day - even including article submission, this only takes about an hour and in one years' time you can have well over 500 independent, high-quality articles published. I also frown on blanket submissions - submitting the same article to multiple directories, though this is open for debate. I recommend picking two or three of the top-performing directories (take a look at ArticlesBase, GoArticles, Squidoo, Associated Content, eZineArticles and Google's Knol to get started) and focusing on those until you've established good rankings.

Twitter is something I recently discovered. Set it up with tweetlater, and it automatically sends a message to people who follow you. If you have a blog, this is a good way ot driving traffic to that, by telling people that they can "get to know you better if they visit your blog".
Video is also a hot way of driving traffic. I have recently started to use Traffic Geyser with good success. They mass submit video for you to free video hosting sites and podcast directories. Make a video on your topic, fill it with keywordds, mass submit, and drive traffic to website. Youtube is ranked as nr. 3 on Alexa

I agree with almost everyone has stated. I don't want to deviate away from the topic but we all know that article writing and submission has proven to be a powerful asset. However, the underlying challenge is how to come up with a unique, yet useful content, or in other words, quality content. Any advise on this?? I'd appreciate it.

And my approach from now on is to not exert myself 1000+ words for a submission site where the word length is half of that. I'm just going to try to make the best out of that shorter length instead. |
