Bum Marketing=Article Marketing

Have you ever heard of bum marketing? This is a phrase that was coined by Travis Sago which I happened to know, and which is nothing less than FREE article marketing.

Article marketing can put you on first page of Google in just a couple of days. I use article marketing for everything I promote in my affiliate business.

Here are some rules you must follow if you want to be successful with bum marketing/article marketing.

1) Your content must be educative and not a sales pitch. Your resource box is where you do the promotion part.

2) Don't use TOO many keywords since it will deserve you more than it will serve your purpose. The rule is 1 keyword phrase per 100 words.

3) Your keywords should be in the title, the description, once or twice within the body of the article and once toward the end.

4) Your resource box should be eyeball pulling and compelling for the reader enough for them to click on your link or links.

5) Link your articles to your blogs, your Squidoo lenses your sites...etc.

Yes that's great, particularly the amount of keywords to regular words, obviously articles that are full of keywords will stand out like a sore thumb, especially to a person who is trained to look for it! Many article sites do seem to use humans.

Best wishes,

This is a very helpful post. I had no idea about the limit of times to put keywords in your article. I am just starting out when it comes to ezine articles so I will put your post to use right away.

Thanks again!

Very interesting post. I've never heard of bum marketing interesting title as well. Do you think the term will become mainstream?

It's been mainstream and popular for some time.

Very informative. But for me, connection is as important as content. A quality content is worth nothing if you haven't got a strong and serious connection.

Article marketing and keyword density

Right now article marketing is also my main focus, as well as blogging. I wanted to ask: how long have you been doing article marketing to promote your products and what kind of success have you had? I'd like to get a gauge as to what kind of results I should be aspiring for.

I like your simple formula for determining how many keywords to place in an article. I found a formula for measuring keyword density which goes like this:

(Nkr * Nwp / Tkn) * 100 = keyword density percentage

Nkr = the number of times you use the word or phrase in your article Nwp = the number of words in the phrase. (So “keyword density” has an Nwp of 2).
Tkn = the total number of words in the article or webpage

So according to this formula, if you were to use a keyword once for every 100 words, then that would give you a keyword density of 1%. I've heard that search engines prefer anything between 1% to 3%.

Thanks for sharing. It is always good to remind people on these issues, i guess we will never say enough on article marketing.

I suggest we should also try other marketing techniques as well.
