I always wondered which is the best method.

-Submitting only to 1 big article directory and keep your article unique.
-Submitting to several article directories since people will copy or rewrite your article anyway.

Submitting to several sites can widely expose your articles. Just think about submitting to lots of sites, your articles as well as your links will be more viral and can have more pages views and probably more url clicks to your sites.

Having lots of it does not only give more traffic and uniqueness to your articles but to have more backlinks also to your sites.

I realize that the quality and ranking of the article directories one submits to is a major factor, but putting that aside, what do you think is the optimum number of article directories one should submit one's articles to?

you will hardly have a clear cut answer to this question. In fact people are so diverse on this topic that it has created some real debate in most forums.

I think your article will get so much exposure when submitted to many article directories. The truth is even if you submit just to EZA, people will always copy your article a use it for their personal use anyway! Article stealing

As for duplicate content issues, Google will normally index just one or 2 version of the article they find. Which I am ok with that. Of cause they should not pack their servers with the same content.

So your article in many different directories will not help so much for SEO, but i doubt if it can affect your ranking negatively. If they give you traffic then it is definitely a good thing.

Its my general feeling the more directories you promote your article in the better off you are.Plagiarism stinks but unfortunately is a fact of life.Brand yourself with squidoo lenses and blogs etc.Once people get to know who you are and see you all over the net they will come to expect your work and know its you.Dont keep all of your eggs in one basket.The cream will rise to the top and yes that is you.

I have yet to find a clear cut answer. Honestly you should see which article directories get the most views for your niche and post to those. That way you will get your article in front of the biggest audience.
