I carefully read what you wrote about needing something to sell to make money. It seems so obvious that i chuckled when I'd first read the title...

But that you recommend having your own product, drop shipping for a local retailer and other suggestions...

What Harris has told is right but i will recommend newbies to use affiliate marketing method first instead of selling their own product. Because by doing this they will learn some techniques of marketing online. They will know the tactics of promoting a product and they will get some money to start promoting their own product or online business.
