What Every Newbie Should Know Part Three

By now you should know that most of the opportunities for making money online are not actual jobs but instead businesses. You should also be aware that every business involves marketing and selling. Your boss got the money for your paycheck because somebody at sometime sold the service or product your employer’s company provides to someone. They attracted that buyer through some sort of marketing effort.

Most of us are here because we are trying to find a way to “be our own boss”. In order for us to succeed in that endeavor we must start thinking like him. Not only to we have to determine what product or service we are going to provide, it will have to be sold to someone. Therefore, our first goal should be to escape our own fear of selling. We should be developing ways to market our product or service. Finally we should be creating mechanisms that sell and market our product for us.

In part two I overviewed what I believe to be the three most common categories of online money making opportunities. In this installment I will discuss the pros and cons of each of these three categories.
The paid survey and paid to read category of online businesses has appeal to many newbies because it capitalizes on their fear selling and investing. It appears that you don’t have to invest anything or sell but the reality is in order to make any money you often do have to purchase a product or service even if it is just a small shipping fee and you can cancel it before the full membership price is charged. While you don’t sell, paid surveys are part of marketing strategy that is targeting you as the consumer and if you ended purchasing the products that are being sold to you, how are you going to make money?

Affiliate marketing, the second category I covered that I covered in Part Two has appeal to newbies because the affiliate programs are often marketed as jobs. Once the newbie has discovered that the program they purchased is not actually a program that supplies them with contract data entry opportunities, affiliate marketing can still appeal to the newbie because there is the potential in affiliate marketing for outstanding return on investment and faster capital turnover. The possibility that by using pay-per-click methods to generate sales campaigns with ROI’s of 100% to 400% in a matter of days and no inventory to hold is powerful. There are indeed “super affiliates” who have had such success. The reality for the newbie however, is that there is often more risk than they may realize and running a successful affiliate marketing campaign often is more difficult than one may imagine.

Network Marketing, the third category I covered in Part Two is often overlooked by newbies because of the undeservedly bad reputation it has gotten from some bad operators. One drawback to newtwork marketing, also referred to as multi-level marketing, is that before the advent of the internet the various network marketing companies only taught their members to market their business using “warm market” tactics. “Warm market” is a euphemism your friends, family, and other acquaintances. Often those we know and love have no desire to build a business and therefore even those who were able to successfully recruit using that method often times found that their downlines were not able to duplicate their success ultimately leading to networks vulnerable to collapse.

Online network marketing however, is I believe the best place for newbs to start for various reasons. Since the advent of the internet Network Marketers are no longer restricted to warm market tactics, and offline cold market tactics such as cold calling, offline classified advertising, handing out business cards, and knocking on doors. Many network marketing companies also now employ forced matrix systems which cause new members sponsored by more established upline memebers to “spillover” into the downlines of less experienced new members. This gives the new member a start which reinforces their belief that the business can work. Some Internet Network Marketing companies also provide training materials and system tools at no or low cost that can help the newbie learn how to market on the internet and which can be transferred to other forms of internet marketing.

Part 3-Network marketing is very easy to do. I'm in a company that was free to join and free to upgrade. Sure you can get higher faster by buying products, but that is not required nor necessary. This company has free training and several training modules that explain everything from What is Network Marketing to setting up your own websites and various uses of Web 2.0.
