Can You Get Tons Of Traffic From Forums?...Anyone having success posting to forums?

It has been 10 days and nobody has answered you. So, that is part of your answer. Actually, you can get some traffic and the more you post to a forum, the more you will get. Especially, if you are posting meaningful answers and questions. After a while, people will trust you more and they will start taking an interest in you and your sites.

Hi o9plan, simple answer is yes, with one of my earlier sites I used forum marketing to great success.

You would need to find a forum related to your business, set up your profile, which I don't bother with too much, but should be done to build a bit of reality to the voice giving info.

Try to be helpful rather than trying to sell the pants off your business, post answers to the other members questions, be regular so as to build up some sort of reputation for your biz.

Well it's a part of the whole marketing package.
I think by doing forum marketing alone you won't get a lot of sales.
Like Joseph says if you want some nice traffic for forums search for targeted forums and be active in those forums by providing usefull information, when people like your post they want to know more about you and will click the link in the signature.

Forum posting is especially important for the ideas and free tips you get. There are tons of very experienced internet marketers ready to help you out with any of your problems.

As a secondary goal, you can get some real cool traffic there too if the forum is some how popular!

One of the best things with forum posting is the simple fact that the threads get indexed by search engines and shown on search results. This is a big plus cos it can be one great source of traffic, and a very good source of backlinks too!

Forum posting is really a great think to do.

It depends on the forum.

1. how much traffic does the forum get per day? If the most recent post was from several months ago, I'm guessing you won't see a lot of traffic.

2. what rules do the forums enforce? will you be able to ever put a link to a page without getting banned? are you allowed signatures?

3. what do you contribute to the forum? regular forum users will flame a spammer in a heartbeat. but if you are offering good information, your posts can survive.


The BEST way to get good traffic from forums is to offer VALUE! (Shocking, I know.)

Think about it from the reader's perspective:

Option A: I read a thread and the guy posts some short line like "Nice thread." and has a signature that is flashy and clearly trying to sell me something. I'll either skip, or report the thread/user.

Option B: I read a thread that answers my question, gives me good, free info (which is why I'm reading a forum), links to a site that gives MORE good, free, info. THAT site is something I might bookmark or even refer others to.

I like forums for the information you can learn, and then for the information I can share. I enjoy reading others' posts and incorporating them into my plans. There's a lot of competition in this niche, but I think there's still room for anyone who wants to get in. Now with the economy the way it is, more people are looking for ways to make money on the internet, and searching for tools to help them.

Forums are a place where individuals congregate to share their common interests and help each other become more productive.I am fairly new to forums and only post on a few because I am searching a more out of the box approach on everything I have learned so far.In the short period of time I have started spending time on the few forums I have worked with I have learned more from you good people than I will ever learn from any ebook.

Should some day I make a sale from a post I have made on this or any other forum then thats a bonus.But if that was my sole reason for coming here then I am wasting your time and mine and the time of the good moderators who watch over everything here.

New to this forum and regardless of whether down the road traffic comes my way.. the value of the interaction, learning, sharing, and more is worth hours...and hours of time and trouble.

Jay Conrad Levinson in his book 'Guerrilla Marketing" changed how I did business in the early 90's. AND his principles are more true today than ever before. He says that there will be less and less reliance on any one type of advertising method. Rather it will be a combination of several methods which creates a synergy and powerful connection. After looking at the quality of individuals both on the questions AND answers end.. how could there not be a benefit?

When it comes to forums the more often you participate and the more often people see you the better since this makes you seem more trustworthy and people will see you as an authority and will definitely be interested in what you have to say and your links, plus some forum post get indexed by Google.
