It's not strictly necessary, but if you are building a long term business as opposed to making a quick buck, then you will need a website and some sort of email capture system in place.
But I have also found that free tools such as Squidoo, Hubpages and the like are also wonderful marketing tools.

If you have a lead capture page offering quality incentives to sign up to your list then you have the opportunity to promote to them more than just once.
This is crucial because it takes 6-7 exposures before people actually decide to buy.

Landing pages
It's almost always better to have a landing page, but you can convert without one. What products are you promoting and does the company have a great closing page?

Hi. New poster here.
I'm enjoying the talk. My 2 cents worth, I have better luck with an opt in sales or landing page,but short and sweet. I guess my thought is if people will opt in...they're not "fly bys" and might stick around a bit longer for sales. As has already been said...build a list.

I am still use website for landing page to promote clickbank product and use adword to get my visitor , at my landing page I use review about the product and put autoresponder to build list for long term.
Sometime I use article marketing for long term marketing to my landing page.

Popular means competitive, very competitive. That's the only downside that I've been experiencing with using PPC. However, I don't consider it a threat nor a hindrance, but a challenge to get over and make my strategies and approach better.

Certainly Not, most beginners affiliate marketers, do find a lot of obstacles when it comes to affiliate marketing and the thing is that most of these so called obstacles are mental. Apparently most aspiring affiliate marketers think that you need to have a website for you to promote Clickbank products , and thats not true you can profit from any affiliate marketing business with or without a website.
You can start by blogging. A blog is an online journal that can be used for your advantage. You can by using blogs.Blogs prove to be very good way to promote Clickbanks products, Because Search engines crawlers love blogs, eg Wordpress and Blogspot.You can also promote through Forums too.
