Hi,

having a list of email addresses to send your message to is one of the most essential things in internet marketing.

But how do you do that without spamming, and without getting a flood of junk mail in your own mailbox (that's my experience using safelists and some bulk-email programs I joined before) ?
I know many programs are offered when you search for "free leads" at Google or any other search engine, but do those programs do what is promised ?
It all starts with you having to submit your own email address first before getting anywhere, or even worse, have to pay for something you don't know if it's gonna work.

I have found a great way to start building a list is through videos. Video marketing really seems to be the way internet marketing is moving right now and it is very easy to do. All you need is a webcam, and there is no need to try to be a professional. Just make sure you put a link to your squeeze page, or your blog, so people can sign up.

I use a bit of everything, safelists, traffic exchanges and forums mostly. I've tested and tested my optin pages and have found several that work quite well. I haven't tried video myself, yet.

You need to track everything you're doing. That way you'll have a better understanding of what is or isn't working.

I don't like safelists either, for the reason you mentioned. Here are some ways I'm doing it; you could do worse than to use one or most of them in your own list building efforts.

A free newsletter--I publish a free monthly electronic newsletter offering articles. I also advertise my copywriting services. Offer a free report in exchange for people's sign up info.

Then, tell everyone about your newsletter. Put it prominently on your Website, include it and the sign up offer in your signature on forums like this one, etc.

Create Joint Ventures--another great way to build your list fast is to partner with people who already have a sizeable list. The way I do this is with teleseminars. Here's how this works:

1. Find people who also serve your target market and have a product designed for them.

2. Invite them to be on a free teleseminar where you will ask them questions. Tell them you have a small but growing list (if this is the truth) that would be perfect for their product. Offer to do all the marketing and setting up, and ask for 50% of the profits. All they have to do is send an email announcing the call to their list and show up for the call.

3. Go to FreeConferenceCall.com and get an account.

4. Announce the call to your list and send your guest an email to send out to his list.

5. Hold the call on the appointed date and time. Make it very content rich and non-salesy. Mention the product at the very end of the call. Record the call (your conference line will do this for you).

6. Send out an email as soon as the recording is ready, offering it to those who were on the call. Include an affiliate link to the product being offered at the end.

7. Count your money. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It can seem like a lot of effort, but I think it's worth it, and you'll even make a little money. Not a lot. Not at first. I only made $70 on my first teleseminar, but it was enough to show me this works, and the bigger the guest, the bigger the list and the bigger the profit. Now you've got a huge list you can invite to sign up for your newsletter, as well as offer them your other products and services.

The key here, as always, is to know your target market. Then you'll know what you need to do to find them. Before I scheduled another teleseminar, I used SurveyMonkey.com - Powerful tool for creating web surveys. Online survey software made easy! to create a survey for my list. This is a great strategy, especially if you offer a free report or audio in exchange for taking the survey.

Here is the best way to build a list.
1. Develop a website or blog about what you know...your passion your desires etc...
2. Put an autoresponder script on your website or blog where folks can signup for your newsletter or ezine that will give them furhter information. Ex...7 day course on how to become a better "whatever you niche is"! Or a free ebook about how you can lose weight without dieting. Remember these are only examples but the most important thing to remember is "Good Content".

there is no shortcut to getting a list because traffic you purchase will not necessarily be very targeted or profitable. Build traffic to a website or blog, sign up at getresponse or aweber. Set up your signup form and attract traffic to your page using all known methods. Takes time and hard work!

Blogs, articles and videos but these are all methods that take weeks to show any results. Dont forget SEO - google especially will list you IF you have content.

Build links and traffic will come in slowly. It's like a snowball....

I get 3000 visits tops per day BUT took me years.
