Google tries as much as possible to keep all the elements used to rank pages very very secret. but we all know that the main thing that contributes to page rank is backlinks.
The 2 most important SEO tips are good Content and backlinks, Period!
many people don't know how Google calculates page rank through backlinks, so i want to give that formula here
it is: PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))

PR(A) is the PageRank boost your page A will get after being linked from someone else’s site (t1). PR(t1) is the page rank of the site which links to you and C(t1) is the amount of total links that (t1) has. Enjoy!

Page Rank Formula

I guess it's more on inbound links that don't violate google rules. Because there are a lot of high traffic sites that are banned or got their PR's removed because they had too much backlinks for a natural traffic.

Right?

That's odd you start a thread with a question and no signature, then answer it with a signature. hhnmmm..

Pagerank means very little, hasn't been worth much for a long time. Besides maybe bragging rights, that's about all it's worth.

Right?
In bound links don't cause you trouble, other wise every one could bury their competition with ease. It's not who links to you that can hurt you, it's who you link to that could hurt you.
