Traffic
You need to use many different ways of sending traffic to your site.
Do you update your blog frequently so that the SEs crawl it frequently? The SEs love content so you should try to post something of value every day. Have you posted your blog to blog directories? Do you use Social Networking and Social Bookmarking? You should! Using these can really send a lot of traffic to your site. You could post a comment on Twitter about a post on your blog then include a link to the post. Go to StumbleUpon and submit your blog's URL. Have you written any viral reports? This is also a great way of getting traffic. The report doesn't have to be that long, just something that people will want to pass along. Of course, you will include a link to your site. If you make it brandible, more poeple will pass it along. Have you written articles and then submitted them to article directories? You will of course include a link to your site in your resource box. How many forums do you post to with your link in your sig file? Try posting to several every day. This is just a few ways to get more traffic. Donna

If you Blog you can also put up a Squidoo Lens or two, add that to the articles, and you can link them to one another.

First - Some Basic Questions
I find that most people do not consider a few basics prior to starting a marketing campaign.... In other words:
1- Do you have a "dual identity" system, where you have a site for making money, and a separate system for driving traffic to your making money sites? The old way of marketing, I think, was having a "one-site-handles-all" approach, but now that deep pocket corporations are in the game, this method no longer works. I can tell you from personal experience and over 13 years on the Net ...a LOT of major players are using a method similar to what I call the D.I System and are applying it to niches and making very nice and repeatable profits. Is your blog the ONLY method you are using to drive traffic to your affiliate offers? Please explain whether your answer is yes or no. 2- Marketing on the Net is a combination sometimes, of time vs risk/reward. What I mean is - you can get huge bursts of traffic, like right now....but if you are too aggressive, you may risk site banning.... hence the "dual identify" marketing system. Do you know how large your market is? Do you know how much traffic is out there for your market? What makes you feel that blogging is the way to go where you want to be? When you say affiliate marketing...that is a HUGE amount of wiggle room :-) What exactly are you trying to sell? HOW are you trying to sell it? 3- Commitment - Do you REALLY want to make money? How much? How much time are you willing to put into the effort? I find that a lot of people want to make a lot of money ...but as soon as they realize that actual work is involved in laying the foundation for a repeatable profitable system, they get discourage, waste time, make excuses or simply give up. Is this a hobby for you or a SERIOUS online business venture? Be honest about that when you ask yourself this question. 4- What made you choose Affiliate marketing ....and your selected product(s). Are you trying to do this on a shoestring budget? Do you want to be conservative or aggressive? I realize that some of this may sound a bit weird... but what I am getting at, you first must determine what you REALLY want to achieve, how fast you want it, and whether you have chosen the proper foundation and path for doing so. You can get a LOT of traffic to your blog....and you can get a LOT of traffic without a blog. I have seen sites that get a ton of traffic but don't make a dime ...I have seen a site that get a little traffic (but highly targeted), and make thousands a day. So take your time and give us more details, so we can really help you. THEN you determine what is the best path for YOU. You will start to see results when you understand where you are, where you want to go and how you want to get there ...as opposed to trying every idea or gimmick that's thrown in your face :-)

Tip for everyone, well, you might already know it, don't use free hosted wordpress blogs to market or sell, they will zap them pretty quickly. Just hate to see hard work go up in smoke.

Ron Killian,
When you say they will zap them do you mean because they are using free hosting or because they are using Wordpress. I hope its the former as I have a lot of blogs with Wordpress but host with Hostgator. Thanks, donrock |

![]() Maybe if one was easy on the advertising and marketing, they might get by, but it's taking a risk of losing some hard work. Ya, if your hosting Wordpress on your own, you have nothing to worry about.
