| How can I get good testimonials for my site? What do fellow internet marketers think?

| Offer Your Product... Whether it's just a "beta" version, or trial, you can get a wonderful response by giving your prospects a taste of your product to mull over. Then give them the full version after you receive their testimonial in return. This will build a better relationship so that if you need such services again, you'll have many more takers! Don't forget that you should ask for feedback on your product as well. This way you can "tweak" it to make it even better. While you might think you're somehow losing in this situation you are really gaining more than just testimonials, you are gaining a learning experience and good advice(even if it's negative) from your peers. | I agree with Tracy this is a good way to receive testimonials. Another method that I have used is to ask someone to test a product in exchange for a copy of it and ask them to do a report on it. Also works well for a newsletter rather than just ask someone to read your newsletter you can ask them to give you honest feedback on it and ask their permission to use their feedback to promote it. | I get most of my testimonials in reply to support tickets or sales enquiries. In a few occassions I put a link to submit feedback/testimonial where customers can easily see them. This way, they are not solicited and represent a honest view from consumers using the product or service. More ideas are welcome! |

| Hi, One way to do it is to offer the product here in the "Special offers" section... Instead of paying for the product, they will agree to send you a testimonial + photo... or giving to friends, in return for their honest opinion. Karl |

| This can be a problem if you don’t have any testimonials, because either your product is new or your site is new and you just haven't gotten any testimonials yet. Here is an idea I got from Alex Mandossian (A Master Copywriter BTW) to get your own testimonials: You need to incorporate this into your sales copy. And this really works quite well! Tell the prospect in your sales copy that you want them to give you a testimonial for the product within 30, 60, or 90 Days (Leave enough time for them to use the product!) and that you are going to reward them with a discount of $xx.xx off the product for doing that..... in advance! That's right, IN ADVANCE, on the "honor system". You could also give an extra bonus to them that's not available to anyone just purchasing the product WITHOUT giving you a testimonial. If you use the above methods, I would set up a seperate order page that includes the extra bonus/discount and tie it to autoresponder(s) for this specific purpose. For Example: Just add a link something like, "To take advantage of this FREE EXTRA BONUS OFFER for giving me a testimonial within 90 days <CLICK HERE LINK TO FORM> and the link would be to a form page (Use a pop-up for the form) with "Yes, I promise to give (YOUR NAME) a testimonial for (YOUR PRODUCT) within 90 days of purchase. I understand that I am getting (FREE EXTRA BONUS NAME) for giving (YOUR NAME) my testimonial." On form submission (The pop-up form), then have them redirected to a duplicate order page that thanks them for their promise to give you a testimonial and includes the FREE EXTRA BONUS or DISCOUNT PRICE. You could also have the AR send a "Thanks for your promise!" message right after they submit, although it's not necessary if you thank them on your alternate order page. Set the form up with an autoresponder to remind them of their promise a week or so before the 90 days is up with a link to a testimonial submission form or a "testimonials@yourdomain.com" address to email their testimonial tied to another AR that sends a "Thank You for your testimonial" message maybe with an offer for this deal on some other products as well, an "extra unadvertised" bonus as a warm thank you for the testimonial OR to make this "viral", include a "Tell my friends about this great product" link to a referral form page you set up, or just some upsell links to other products. Yep, you can even build up your list using this strategy. Also, be sure you set up some "I'm concerned" follow up messages AFTER 90 days has passed with no testimonial from them. This would be part of the series from the "I Promise" form AR. You decide how long you should "remind" them of their promise and you might even try sweetening the pot with an "ok, you wore me out, here's an additional bonus if you give that testimonial today!" message. You get the idea. ============================================== There are so many incredible upsell/cross-sell marketing opportunities and twists you can do with this, it boggles the mind but these ideas should get your juices flowing. Let your customers build your sales page for you! Just add your testimonials to the pages as you get them! Stats I have seen show as high as 50% of the people that promise you this will actually send you a testimonial! Not bad at all really. Don't worry about the ones that "took advantage" of you by getting the bonus and not giving you a testimonial... you STILL made a sale anyway Now go and do thou likewise.....
