Im very confused with all of this too..How come if I go to Free blog hosting in three easy steps - Blog.com, you can make one for free, but on other sites you have to pay for blog hosting. whats the difference?

The only difference is one the blog is more of a mini site that allows user comment.
Websites are normally large and offer much more user interaction. You will notice that most blogs are used as pre-sale launching pads to a main website, be it personal or affiliate.
