i think you need a half decent website...as presentation is the key to many things and building a trusting relationship between you and the viewer...as all you have is the ie browser to do so.

but initially what will make you money will be the words you use on your site and traffic...im talking about very very targeted traffic...people that almost have their credit card half hanging out of thier wallet ready to buy.

you really must take peoples breath away so having a clean website design from the start will make them stay and reading the powerful words you put on there will add to all this and make them desire whatever it is your selling. In the end this is what wins and will make you boat loads of money...by the way which I think is nice

I agree, presentation is the key. First impressions are generally the most important impressions when attracting consumers. If they click on your site and it is not professionally designed and eye catching they will not stay interested and will not read on throughout your information or product you are trying to sell.

Lightbulb Websites

I think you can make money either way. I personally did start earning more when I set up a website. I have a couple you can view: Bright Future Web was designed and put together for me FREE in 24 hours. Newbie Cash Machine was set up by me and was my first atempt at building a webpage. I host with Midphase and I LOVE it because it is so easy to use and I pay only $7.95 per month. For that low cost I can build thousands of pages If you are looking for a great idea that is very similar to a webpage in it's function but is FREE try starting some Squidoo lenses. Really though, the most important thing is that you have a great product and that you work hard at your business. I hope this helps!

Exactly what is a Professional Looking Site

Somehow its implied that professional is complex

On the contrary...look at Google home page NAME and Search Box

Decide what your sites page purpose is, then do that, nothing more!

Smile It's In The Product...

I agree with the others as far as the product being more important than if you have a "high tech" site. The information provided by Secretary I is great! Affiliate marketing is a good place to start on the internet. When you do decide to build a site, make sure that it's decent and easy to navigate. I don't think people will stick around too long on a site that is
confusing or too "busy". Most times simple is good

My first website

The first website I created I did have it professionally made... I did this so I could understand the logic behind where and why they put stuff on my page. After that I began using their templates to create my own websites and graffics. Personally, I feel its beneficial to have at least the first website professionally made especially if you are a beginner like I was.
