Marketing ideas required for a chicken and egg situation! No money for marketing but

Hi, I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help....

We have little money left to spend on the marketing of Sport Clubs, Forums & News | Sporting Social Network | Ballz.com a new sports social networking site. We need to find ways to tell the world without spending very much money! …. before we can PR it to the likes of tech crunch and mashable etc ..

We’ve done most of the onsite SEO work we can and we are looking for some killer ideas to attract users to the site on a shoe string budget.

Can anyone help?

Users can personalise their own selection of sports (over 200 popular and niche sports available), meet friends, manage teams and leagz, listen to news and read about their favourite sports, blog and comment on sports they’re interested in, get mobile alerts and updates, find local sports facilities and services and shop for products for over 200 sports.

Google Bum marketing. and of course, particpate in forums with a good signature. Look at 99% of the posts here and you will that each of them has a small marketing tag line (sometimes not so small) as part of thier signature. Like mine for example.

for example yours might be "I know a place where all the sports stats in the world can be discussed. Want to know where it is too? (use a hyperlink for the whole sentence or for just the key part). Or a little racier might be "I'll show you mine if you show me your ..... Favorite Sports Event"

Try some of the Press Release sites - some of them will let you send press releases for free. Check your local newspaper. They may have a press release/ local community notice section that will do a brief right up about the site. They may even run it in the sports section.

Use Free Ad Boards. for eg. http://BusinessFreeAd.com or http://ovgo.com These are boards that you can post a text ad free for a pre-determined period of time, usually 5 to 10 days. Then your ad expires and you are emailed the option to re-post your ad free for another cycle.
