Increasing Email Marketing Profitability

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I am a small emailer who makes money sending email to a list I manage (legally). In my space I hear things. Recently, one of the companies I get offers from to promote, said a flip comment about how another publisher was making an advertiser like $4.00 a lead on incentivized email traffic (sign up for an ipod, etc that typically pays in the $1.50 per email range). Not sure what advertiser it was, she wouldn't say, but it got me thinking. If I'm able to increase the quality of my lists and make my traffic very valuable, people would pay more for my traffic....complicated I know.

Question of the day is, are there any email marketers out here on this forum, and if so, what things do they use to help increase the quality of what they send?

I have found that the best means of getting a higher return on what you send in your email campaigns is to focus on how you can benefit the customer, instead of what they can do for you. It also helps if you are using a program that allows you to personalize your newsletters, and don't forget to include a number of CTA's (call to action) in your email. Good luck.
