I consider myself a programmer because I write applications for PCs and I write web scripts. I use PowerBASIC, which is a language that grants much more power and control of the host (e.g. a web server) than PHP, PERL or JAVA. Of course, there is also much more security risk for hosts who allow EXE code on it. PowerBASIC compiles into EXE files, which work great on Windows 2003 Standard Edition web servers, I find.

I have experience coding scripts that utilize databases, tcp/ip, graphics, even speech synthesis and voice recognition (although the license necessary is a few hundred dollars).

I am a little bit new to web script writing, but I have successfully written a word game using this programing language. And yes, I did write myself an English Dictionary over the past 9 1/2 years of my life.

Learning to program in PowerBasic for Windows is not "easy" if you have
never done any Windows programming, and don't let anyone tell you that it
is. Just because it has the general syntax of the BASIC language, don't
think that it will be all that familiar.

I thought this programming language isn't existing anymore.
