Free Video Software

Hey Brakers, here's my two cents...

Depending on what style of video your planning on putting on your website, you'll have to decide what type of video recorder you purchase. Generally speaking the more you pay the better the quality of film (this isn't always the case though, so you should shop around and read some reviews).

If you plan on doing screencasts or computer walkthrough stuff, then I recommend this free software - CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software

For video editing, windows movie maker should be fine. If you plan on doing highly sophisticated videos, maybe consider investing in sony vegas or something similar.

Once your done editing...
One of the easiest ways to get your video on your site, may actually be, to upload it to youtube or a similar service. This may sound strange, but YouTube allows you to then take the 'embed code' of your video and simply link it to your site.

By doing this, you'll get exposure on youtube aswell as on your own site (which can only be a good thing )

Hope this kinda helps.

Yes, I've submitted a video on YouTube and then used the embedded code on my website. It works.

Buy me a Beer?
Im really new to video

I have sites that include video but havent produced them myself. I have been using Camtasia on the 30 day free trial basis, but didnt realise it was going to cost $299 for the full version. As suggested above, I have now downloaded and am playing with Camstudio, it looks great and I would recommend it to anyone who wants opensource video editing and capturing software. You can even have a different voice if you dont want to use your own, how good is that? Thanks for the question and all those answers up there, this has really helped me.

CamStudio is the best way to make it free ,,, but there are better programs out there if you are willing to pay.

There is no better and easier way of placing videos on your website than first submitting it to youtube, then embedding it to your site.

when you submit a video to youtube, you can use it anywhere on the net. its quite simple to do.

just copy the embedded code you fine on the video on youtube, then paste the code on your website where you want the video to appear. that is it.

The only problem with adding a video to youtube and then adding it to your site is it's most likely the quality will suffer. Of course adding video's to YT has it's advantages, just something to think abut

I used Camtasia to create a video, I then uploaded it to youtube and numerous other video hosting sites and then I pasted the code from youtube into my website, this saves me a lot of band width every month, I know I am being cheap.
