Depends on how much redesigning you do.......color and graphics should not change anything.....
Content change will be a problem....Google likes changing content...but it still has to be relevant to your original site and subject matter...
Hope that helps a little....

I absolutely agree with you. If there will be topics that I find it hard to solve, I always go to Google for a guide. Why not try it?

What are your reasons for changing the site layout?

In order to keep your positions you will need to be mindful to not create a bad visitor experience.... 404's and slow pages are fine if temporary; however both can hurt your SERPS if not taken care of.

If you are keeping the page layout/structure the same then this shouldnt be a problem. (this is why, on larger sites, themes can be a good thing, its dead simple to add new functionality to an existing site).

Avoid using too much of flash. Keep the basic SEO tricks in mind. Structure/layout must be friendly. Do not use too much of redirects. it will not do you much good.

I agree with Jim. Redesigning your website such as colors and graphics will not change or affect anything about its contents neither will it affect its traffic results.

I completely agree with this. Gotta keep in mind the web stack = HTML, CSS, JS, and Flash or Silverlight if necessary.

All flash sites are one thing, and have their place, but a good mix of everything is really what you want.

And don't put necessary content like a nav or contact info in flash stuff. People on iPhones and iPads won't be able to see it. I don't wanna start an Apple vs Windows debate, here - - - lol
